In 1883. M Godefroy Lebeuf described that 'This pretty orchid is closely related to Paphiopedilum concolor and to P.bellatulum' in French journal L'Orchidophile.

Paphiopedilum godefroyae should be grown in areas with bright light and intermediate to cool temperatures. It grows on limestone rocks and cliffs on the islands off the north-west coast of New Guineaa and on coastal cliffs on the northern Brids Head peninsula of Infonesian Papua.

Pot in a well drain mix such as medium fir bark and perlite or sphagnum moss.

The plant is also sensitive to salts. To induce blooming withold water and lower the temperature for three weeks in the winter. and give bright light. Rhizomes of this plant are easily broken.
