In 1972. The genus was established by the American botanist Leslie Garay as a segregate of Aerides.
'mitratum' which differs from typical species of the genus because of its erect inflorescence.

In 1864. H.G. Reichenbach described this 'charming thing' in the Botanische Zeiting.

Description
        Seidenfadenia mitrata orchid blooms in the spring with up to fifteen 1.8 cm wide flowers, Flowers are fragrant.

Distribution
        Burma , Thailand. .... where it grows as an epiphyte in lowland and lower montane forests from 100 to 1700 m. elevation.

Culture
        Seidenfadenia mitrata orchid grows from intermediate to warm conditions with medium amounts of light. Plants should be potted in medium bark or sphagnum moss. Water everytime when the mix has just about dried
